Due to the law that tails can no longer be docked in Australia and the fact that we feel so strongly against long tails, Four years ago we made the decision that if it was possible we were going to pursue the path of breeding Natural Short Tails

We had been following for a number of years the work of Geneticist Dr Bruce Cattanach of Steynmere Boxer Kennels in the United Kingdom , who for the past 20 years has been breeding Boxers with the wonderful Natural Short Tail characteristic.

At first there may have been an element of doubt, but after much thought, many long discussions, and  the more research we did, our understanding of this amazing programme increased and we became sure that this was for us, that this was a way we could retain a short tail, and keep our breeding programme running without damaging or upsetting any of our future breeding plans
With the help of Dr Cattanach and two dear friends, Elaine Davies "Tonup Boxers" and Steve Lipnevits "Rostesha Boxers" this has become a reality

In September 2005 at 14 weeks of age our first Natural Short Tailed Boxer Steynmere Had It All arrived in Sydney.
"Monty" spent the next 4 weeks of his very young life at the NSW Quarantine station, before he was able to come home with us and become one of our family
He has been a delight for all of us here and everyone has come to love this adorable clown, he continually keeps us all amused.
His temperament is second to none and he has made each of our other dogs male and female his friend
As well as his very pleasing pedigree his natural short tail has proven to be of interest to quite a number of our Australian Boxer breeders.

His first litter was born here at "Traxx" and I must say we were more than pleased with the result.
We can't claim the first Natural Short Tailed Boxer, or the first Natural Short Tailed litter in Australia, but I am certain we have the first litters from a Natural Short Tail, bred to 100% American /Canadian females, as all of our boxers, until Monty arrived were 100%American.They have in their pedigrees some of the most famous, top winning and producing American Boxers.

as without all of you we would not have our lovely girls with their wonderful pedigrees to form the foundation of our new breeding program

We are thrilled with what our English lad Monty has added to our breeding program. Not only has he given us a natural short tail, but he has added his lovely English bloodline to our pedigrees.
His progeny is doing very well in the show ring, there have been many puppies winning Sweepstakes, Breed, In Group and In Show awards.

To us Monty is just our lovable unasuming Monty

But giving credit where credit is due he has done us very proud

AS far as we are aware he has sired the first NATURAL SHORT/ BOB TAIL BOXER CHAMPION in the world, as well as the first NATURAL SHORT/ BOBTAIL BEST IN SHOW (ALL BREEDS) winner in the world

and he himself is THE FIRST NATURAL SHORT/BOBTAIL S.O.M. in the world

We know and respect the fact that the Natural Short Tail is not the way for all breeders.
We know too that as with all dog breeding every litter may not be perfect and may not produce exactly what one is hoping for, but my goodness other than the fact that we here at 'Traxx" have not yet had a litter with 100% Natural Short Tails, we have found there has been no reason for us to complain

We in no way try to influence breeders as to whether they breed long or short tails, or to force in any way our opinions on them, but we ourselves  are more than pleased to be part of a programme that allows each of us the FREEDOM OF CHOICE to do either, and I am sure every other Boxer Breeder is able to make the  choice as to the road his/her Breeding Programme will follow

I am sure too that if we all respect the opinions of others and work in unison,   there is a wonderful future ahead for this amazing breed THE BOXER
